The land meets the sea at the seashore, which is the home of many Animals . Hundreds of species of crabs patrol sandy seashores and hide in rookpools ,searching for scraps of food. Crustaceans or mollusks have shells or other hard casing to protect them from birds, t
he hot sun and the pounding waves. Sand hoppers feed on rotting plants , especially seaweed that has been washed up onto the beach. Sea urchins graze on tiny animals and plants from rocks, and starfish feed on coral and shellfish . Certain corals provide a safe shelter for other seashore animals. Some fish have also adapted to life near the shore. The weeverfish hides in the sand , ready to eat any small fish or crabs that swim nearby.
